Back Street BrightonBy Stella Cardus
'Back Street Brighton' is a past and present bestseller and arguably the second most popular QueenSpark book. First published in 1989 it was a sequel to 'Backyard Brighton' - our bestseller ever - featuring a collection of photographs of places not portrayed on seaside postcards. The views would have been unknown to 1980s daytrippers as the buildings were demolished in the fifties and sixties as part of Brighton Borough Council's slum clearance programme.
Today the streets look very different but, thanks to the Environmental Health Department, the buildings survive as photographs and the memories of those that lived in them are still very much alive in the book. BUY IT for £10.99 This page was amended on 31/01/2013 |
