Alt Brighton is recruiting volunteer writers

Alt-Brighton will use the history of Brighton & Hove as a starting point for imaginative fiction, leading to the publication of a graphic novel in autumn 2013.

8 volunteer writers are sought to create the text for the novel - they will

  • be mentored by experienced writer, editor, and Comic Book Alliance co-founder Tim Pilcher, over the course of one year
  • attend a short course on Historical Research and Creative Writing
  • collaborate with a team of graphic designers in order to fashion the text and graphics

The novel will be published in Autumn 2013.

If you are interested in becoming one of the 8 volunteer writers, please e-mail nicola@queensparkbooks.org.uk with your details and why you want to work on the project, and submit a short story or idea from 100 to 2000 words, based around the history of Brighton & Hove, on to the 'New Writing' section of the QueenSpark website, by 28 February 2012 www.queensparkbooks.org.uk. (Please note: you will have to register as a new user, and your submission will be able to be read and commented on by members of the public.)
