People's Day

People's Day

Hooray! The sun shone for the People's Day* on Saturday 18 June 2011.

This community event, to increase understanding and celebrate the diverse communities that make up our city, took place in Pavilion Gardens, New Road, Jubilee Street, Jubilee Square, Dome Foyer and Corn Exchange with a number of different zones.

QueenSpark was there with books and lots of lovely photos for people to look at and comment on. We received some great feedback about the fifty photos that had been selected for our 100th book. And some interesting memories and observations, some of which are published in the book.

Following 2011's successful event, QueenSpark Books repeated the event in 2012. However, on Saturday 14 July 2012 the weather wasn't so kind and we finally gave way to the rain. But not before we'd celebrated Brighton & Hove's history through photographs and given away lots of freebies including postcards, stickers and an information booklet about dating old photos.

* People's Day is a community event designed to celebrate the diverse communities that make up Brighton & Hove.
