Write to PublishBy John Riches
QueenSpark completed its Arts Council funded Write to Publish project in 2010.
Write to Publish offered training, guidance and support in how books and web publications are made from inception to finished product, including commission and research, writing, editing and design, sales and distribution. The project was structured so that participants worked on new titles under the QueenSpark imprint, at the same time as being encouraged to publish under their own name.
Alongside the courses, QueenSpark involved course ‘graduates’, and other volunteers, in the organising and staging of small-scale events that both celebrated their involvement in the project and gave them first hand experience of literary event management.
Two exciting new books about Brighton & Hove resulted from the project:
'Back Row Brighton' which transports us back to the heyday of cinema-going in the company of those who were there.
'Backstage Brighton' which celebrates theatre and theatre-going in the city past and present.
